Tolbooth House

Former town house of Sir James Cockburn of Langton.

6. Tolbooth House

Situated on the west side of Market Square, this building was once the Town House of Sir James Cockburn of Langton, who held the lands of Duns prior to 1698. The stone which can be seen on the corner of the building is a former horse-mounting block.

7. Working Men's Institute

This building on the north side of Market Square was erected in 1877 and features some elaborate stonework.

8. Whip & Saddle

The cut away corner was to allow horse drawn vehicles easier passage.

9. 18 Castle Street

This building formerly housed the Court Rooms of the Baron Baillie Court and several legal offices.

NB: Stop at the top before the main road and look at the building on your right.
